Privacy Policy
The short version. Unravix is a free study helper used by students around the world, including school students. We collect only what we need to answer your questions, run the forums and keep the service safe.
Your questions, photos and voice notes are sent to AI providers to produce an answer. Don't put your name, phone number, address or other personal details in a question.
We never sell your data, never show ads and never build advertising profiles. Children under 13 can't create accounts. If you are under 18 (or under the age of digital consent where you live), ask a parent or guardian before you create an account or give us your email.

1. Who we are
Unravix is run by an independent developer known as Swanix, based in India. Swanix is the data controller (called the "Data Fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) for personal data processed through Unravix. Contact: swanixjobs@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
| Feature | What we collect | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ask (no account needed) | The question you type, the level or exam you pick, and any photo or voice recording you choose to send. | Text questions and their answers may be saved, without your identity, in our answer library so the next student with the same question gets an instant answer. Photos and voice notes are used only to produce your answer and are not stored in our library. If every AI provider is busy, your text question is held in a queue for up to 48 hours until it is answered. |
| Forums account | A username and a password. | No email or real name is needed. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we can't read them. Pick a username that isn't your real name. |
| Forum posts | Thread titles, posts, your username and the time. | Approved posts are public. Every post is screened by an automated (AI) moderator and the result is logged so we can review mistakes and abuse. |
| Waitlist | Your email address and, for the app waitlist, the type of student you are. | Used only to tell you when Unravix or the app launches. Unsubscribe any time. |
| Feedback | Your message, type and rating, the page you were on, and an optional name and email. | Leave name and email blank if you don't want a reply. |
| Community explanations and usage counts | Explanations you submit for a "knot" (with an optional display name) and anonymous counts such as "this helped me get unstuck". | The counts are not linked to you. |
| Technical data | Your IP address, browser type and request times. | Used for rate limiting, abuse prevention and keeping the service running. For the waitlist and feedback forms we store only a one-way hash of your IP. Our hosting providers keep short-term server logs. |
| Microphone and camera | Only when you tap the mic or photo button and your browser asks you to allow it. | Nothing is recorded in the background. You can turn the permission off in your browser at any time. |
We don't ask for sensitive data (health, religion, caste, biometrics, financial details, government ID). Please don't include any in questions or posts.
3. Why we use it (legal bases)
If you are in the EU, the European Economic Area or the UK, the GDPR or UK GDPR requires us to name a legal basis for each use:
- To provide the service you ask for (answering questions, running your forum account, showing your posts): performance of our agreement with you (our Terms).
- Waitlist emails, and the optional email in feedback: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Safety, moderation, rate limiting, fixing bugs and building the anonymous answer library: our legitimate interests in running a safe, free and useful study service. We have weighed these against your rights, and you can object (see Your rights).
- Microphone and camera: your consent, given through your browser's permission prompt each time.
- Legal requests: where we must comply with the law.
In India, we process personal data under the DPDP Act 2023 for the specific purpose you gave it for, on the basis of your consent or for legitimate uses permitted by the Act. Elsewhere, we follow the same rules as a baseline.
We do not sell or rent personal data, share it for targeted advertising, or use it for behavioural tracking or profiling.
4. AI providers and other processors
Unravix runs on outside services. They process data on our behalf so the site can work:
- Hosting and backend: Cloudflare (website, our Ask server, and Workers AI models), Supabase (database and forum logins; data stored in the Mumbai, India region).
- AI answer, check and moderation providers: your question, photo or voice note is sent to one or more of Google (Gemini and Gemma models), Groq, OpenRouter (which routes to independent model hosts), Cohere, Z.ai, SambaNova, Cloudflare Workers AI, and community AI gateways such as Kilo, Pollinations and LLM7. Which provider answers depends on availability. A second, different provider usually checks the answer.
- Web resources: Google Fonts (typefaces) and cdnjs by Cloudflare (a graphics library). Your browser connects to these and they can see your IP address.
Important: Unravix uses the free tiers of several AI providers. Under their own terms, some providers may keep or review submitted content, or use it to improve their models. This is the main reason we ask you not to include personal details in questions, photos or voice notes. Links to each provider's privacy policy are available on request.
5. International transfers
Unravix is used worldwide, and our providers process data in several countries, including India, the United States, the European Union and China (Z.ai). When data leaves your country, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer in their terms, such as Standard Contractual Clauses where they apply, and we send providers only the content needed to answer you.
6. How long we keep it
- Queued questions: up to 48 hours.
- Anonymous answer library (questions and answers with no identity attached): for as long as it is useful.
- Photos and voice notes: not stored by us after your answer (providers may keep them briefly under their own terms).
- Forum account and posts: until you ask us to delete them. Moderation records: up to 12 months.
- Waitlist emails: until launch announcements end or you unsubscribe, whichever comes first.
- Feedback: up to 24 months.
- Hashed IPs and rate-limit data: short term; server logs are kept by our providers for their standard periods.
7. Children and teens
Unravix is built for students, from school to university, so we take extra care.
- Under 13: you may not create a forum account or give us your email (waitlist or feedback). You may use Ask with a parent, guardian or teacher, and please don't send photos or voice notes of yourself or any personal details. If we learn that a child under 13 has given us personal data, we will delete it.
- 13 to 17, or under the age of digital consent where you live (for example 18 in India, and 13 to 16 in EU countries depending on the country): you need permission from a parent or guardian before creating an account or joining the waitlist. In India, anyone under 18 is a child under the DPDP Act, and a parent or guardian's consent is required.
- We do not track children, monitor their behaviour, profile them or show them ads.
- Parents and guardians can contact us at swanixjobs@gmail.com to review or delete their child's data.
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy (including in a portable format);
- correct it or complete it;
- delete it (for example your forum account and posts, or your waitlist email);
- restrict or stop a use you object to, including uses based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw your consent at any time (this doesn't affect what was done before).
In India you can also nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to, and raise a grievance with us. If we don't resolve it, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India. In the EU/EEA you can complain to your local data protection authority, and in the UK to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). In US states with privacy laws, you have similar rights. We don't sell or "share" personal information for cross-context advertising.
Email swanixjobs@gmail.com with your request. For forum data, include your username. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm the request comes from you (for example, by posting a code from your account). Because Ask doesn't use accounts, we usually can't link an anonymous question back to you.
9. Cookies and local storage
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser's local storage keeps a few things on your device to make the site work: your forum login session, a ticket for a queued question, and your theme choice. You can clear them in your browser settings at any time.
10. Security
Connections use HTTPS. The database is locked down so the public website can only read approved public content and add new entries; it can't read waitlist emails, feedback or other people's data. Admin keys never reach your browser. No system is perfect. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
11. Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll post a notice on the site.
